Carsington Sailing Club is set in the beautiful surroundings of the Peak District near Matlock in Derbyshire. Developed by Severn Trent Water and opened in the mid nineties, it has quickly become established as one of the UK’s premier inland sailing venues. Its elevated position and open aspect offer the best of inland wind conditions on around 400 acres of water. It is very much a cat focused club with a variety of craft from F18s to Sprint 15s of which the latter number around fifteen. Carsington is home waters to George Love and Ray Gall, long time members of the Sprint 15 class. Sport is the favoured racing mode and the venue has been used in recent years for both summer and winter TT events. George is editor of The Class Association Magazine “NewSprint”. Both George and Ray are RYA qualified Multihull Instructors and Club Race Coaches. They regularly run training sessions with the benefit of five club owned boats to teach raw recruits to cat sailing as well as budding racers. The club has excellent modern facilities with a welcoming clubroom, spacious changing and showers and a permanently manned office to ensure there is someone always on hand to welcome visitors.
