Re: Sad News

Apologies, I've only just seen this. This is really sad news. Alan was a great bloke, terrific sense of humour, always a pleasure to meet up and share a laugh, many happy memories. I sailed with Alan for years, he always used to put me up (and Nick) at his home usually after too much enjoyment at th...

Re: Mainsail hook on mast

How interesting to hear of my old boat, hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Paul, as far as I recall nothing was changed to the mast hook, the gennaker fitting was riveted on about 3/4 of the way up the mast, (Just something I experimented with for a while), but didn't affect anything else. The orig...

Re: Erling

This is the very sad news that I didn’t want to hear. Erling was one of the great supporters of the Sprint 15 class, he did so much work for the class over the years especially as our Events secretary and the way he always turned up for events, sometimes driving hundreds of miles and bringing along ...

Re: 104 KG - FACT OR FICTION?

Liam Further to your reply, this is a copy of part of a message from Brian at Windsport that I know you have already seen, but others may not: 1) The difference between the old and new main beam is 0.5kg give or take tolerances. 2) The old style lunch box laminating lay-up weight is 1.5kg give or ta...

Re: 104 KG - FACT OR FICTION?

As far as I understand, the Laser is another manufacturer one design as we are and it also doesn’t have a minimum weight, they list only a nominal weight to allow for variations in build tolerances. The whole ethos is a fine aspiration, but you still don’t get many (if any) top Laser sailors in old ...

Re: Chairman

Guys It’s true, I've stepped down from the position of chairman. As I said in a previous post, this weight issue has caused some considerable discussion and disagreement within the committee over the last few months and may have implications for the whole class. Following a committee meeting at the ...

Re: One design Sprint 15

Erling I think what you're referring to was nearer 25 years ago, well before my time and I think yours and with a different manufacturer, when they changed the weight and the sail. Nick also played around a lot himself with a spinnaker and we didn't use that, we also didn't use the DX sail, though I...

Re: One design Sprint 15

Hi Guys I appreciate your views. This is a difficult issue for us, because up till now we’ve never been a weight specific class. Consequently if you study our rules you’ll see they never mention a minimum weight. Instead the rules state; this is a manufacturer one-design. You can debate what exactly...

Re: Pwllheli Nationals

On the contrary, I believe Erling has instigated a new trophy category for:

"The competitor who has achieved their worst result than at any previous Nationals"

Bless him.

Re: Thorpe Bay TT 23rd-24th July

Terrific event at Thorpe Bay, thanks to everyone for putting on a great event. Plenty of wind and sunshine in a great location and 5 really well run races. Paul Morgan's weather forecast was spot on, far more accurate than all the professional weather forecasters, with plenty of wind on both days. A...

Re: Pwllheli Nationals

Hi Guys Erlings going to be stuck on the IOW this weekend because of all the activity surrounding the America's cup in Portsmouth. So any one going to Thorpe Bay this weekend who wants to enter the Nationals can give me their entry and I'll forward it on to him, so you'll still get the discount. Reg...

Hi Guys I've been talking to our esteemed magazine Editor, Mr George Love and he needs some help. George is doing his utmost to put together the next magazine for May but he's feeling the pressure because he still needs articles to turn it into the magazine we love. Can I please urge you all to help...
