East Coast Piers Race 2023

Hi All

I've just entered (in my Spitfire, sorry!) & looking forward to seeing all the MSC peeps as well as hopefully quite a few others in a warm up for Thorpe Bay.

Wow, that's going to be a high mileage month!!

Re: The Knife Game

Oh yes, a gentleman (or lady) knows. I am still constantly surprised that other classes / sailors are not as civilised.

The Knife Game

Who remembers this game that the late, great Mr Dewhirst used to play with newbies, usually after a training session? I remember a particularly good game out on the Carsington patio where races at Grafham, complete with the Grafham Bell, wind shadows, wind shifts & fishing boats were re-enacted!...

How long have you loved your boat?

Hi all I just got a bit emotional updating the boat database with Sticks & Stones' new owner details. I've had her for 20 years, since Elenya was 3, sailing & racing hundreds of miles in her. Not to mention the thousands of miles trailing her and all the beers & banter shared with you lo...

Re: 1237

Sticks & Stones is moving on after 20 years of enjoyable sailing & racing at Halifax SC, Yorkshire Dales SC & Nationally; mostly una rig, a few Sport Nationals & 2-up with Elenya until she was about 11. Brian Bennett from York is taking her EVEN further north to sail on the Solway Fi...

Re: Dart 15 for family use

Zoli A Dart15 is probably the best starter boat for your purposes, though not as easy to find outside the UK as other cats. They are simple and not too much sail area. Also fairly easy to right after a capsize, which if you are sailing gently very rarely happens. Prices are also very sensible for bo...

Re: Grafham Winter TT - 12th March - Entries Open

Excellent event, even if some half boats did get in the way from time to time lol. Well done Mark for today & Jenny for the series. I was going to have a beer when I got home but thought I'd use my prize to demolish a bottle of Pinot instead! After that & an hour in the bath I have no aches ...

9" of snow up to lunchtime today, up north. Looks OK til mid afternoon Sat then a few hrs of snow then warmer again. I'm 60:40 atm for not fighting my way down a slippy M-way. Will decide tomorrow evening.

Re: Slippy shackles

I had exactly the same issue at Rutland, fortunately I was half way back to the club when the mainsheet came off the traveller. However, I considered myself lucky since
I'd not taped it up. Normally there's only the halyard shackle on my boat not taped.

Re: Is there a reason to replace a working Trampoline?

Hi Jamie

I agree with Jenny. My boat is 1237 and still has thin bolt ropes,} though the original trampoline & tracks have been replaced with 2nd hand parts one at a time due to wear & tear. If it ain't broke, don't fix it & if it is then spend the minimum money possible!

Just read John & Auntie Jen's article, I laughed out loud more than once. Very good article, both of you. :D
