Yep, agreed.. Another great magazine Yvonne thank you!

I'm spectating at Mylor this year, so maybe a few shore side ramblings could be in order?

Re: Windward telltales not flying.

Downwind you are as well off using a wind indicator from the bridle wires and keeping an eye on your burgee at the same time.

It's only when you get going on a broad reach the tell tales are worth looking at.

Re: Windward telltales not flying.

I think you may get windward/leeward tell tales flying horizontally together very rarely and not so that you can hold them that way for long & you're better off looking at the water/race course/other boats for the concentration it will take. As Liam suggests, concentrate on the leeward tell tale...

Re: Standard sail vs. square top sail

I agree with Liam - take your jib down, relax rig tension & put mast pin in. The hulls will really only go so fast, so the square top may help you accelerate faster if it has more area and will give you more leverage to hike/trapeze against. If the sail area is the same leave it at home & I ...

Re: Clips' play question

Thierry If I read your original post properly I can see that actually your locally made tramp may well cause you boat issues in both setup and sailing. To be honest I'd get the proper one that the boat is deigned for and save yourself a whole load of grief too (also prevent damaging the boat) & ...

Re: Clips' play question

Hello Thierry As Liam says, you want the tramp to be almost like a drum skin and when it's tight the plastic attachments in the rear beam will be pulled downwards. I use a piece of approx 50mm x 20mm x 500mm wood with a pair of mole grips to pinch the dyneema (get rid of the original string and use ...

Re: A philosophical question

Hi, Mark is spot on with his comments however, if you do need some paperwork which could be required if taking your boat abroad you can order a replacement owners certificate from the current manufacture Windsport. They will need the following pictures, your boat with sails up, hull numbers, sail n...

Re: A philosophical question

Well I suppose Derik that the boat should have the paperwork from new, but quite honestly this is not a class for measuring and weighing so you don't need to be concerned. It would be extraordinary for such a boat to have strayed from standard specifications due to the general availability of the ma...

Re: A philosophical question

Which bit of the boat is the heart of 1342? For years I sailed with #19 as my sail number when the boat was/is actually #1989. I was too lazy to change the numbers on my sail from my previous boat (#1966), so just peeled off the 66 and left it. It wasn't uncommon for folk to say to me that for such...

Re: A philosophical question

When boats were new since day 1 I think, you got some paperwork that linked the hull ID numbers to the sail number and this was with the rigging manual & CE blurb from Laser. The mast had a unique number too. Most likely over the years these doc's have long since been lost along the way of owner...
