Re: Buy and Sell

Hi Simon Sorry your leaving the fleet but I can understand your problem at Oxford. I sail in a mixed fleet at Llandudno and unless it's blowing the cat is useless. I own a 1979 vintage Laser which I use in the light stuff, if I didn't have the second boat the cat would have been sold long ago (but i...

Re: Sporty Corner

Hi George I've done quite a bit of sport mode in the past, when sailing long distance races at sea, with plenty of breeze, works best for me. At Llandudno with a mixed fleet, 50 minute races and a difficult handicap I can't make sport mode work. I would like some practice though, nothing to fancy, j...

Re: Sporty Corner

Hi Robert Have all the sporty bits, just none of the skill, end up a mess of rope dangling over the side, tiller extension hooked into the back of my bouyancy aid, feet sliding down the hull, boat head to wind....Could do with some confidence building coaching plus advice on a good harness, mines a ...

Re: Barts Bash

Thanks George, the Carsington team will sort something out re-Barts and Sprint TT i'm sure. Interesting that 25 entries required per participating venue to be officially recognised, smaller sailing clubs may struggle, not least Llandudno where we await the completion of our new slip-way. For the las...

Re: Barts Bash

Could one of the races at the Carsington TT be a 'Barts Bash'. It was the registration numbers that let us down, I don't think it matters much where you compete, its about being on the water and having a go. You could register to sail at Carsington or your local club.

Barts Bash

Hi All Anyone taking part in Barts Bash on 21 Sept, please register. Got told off by my own club yesterday for not having done so already. On completed the on-line form I was only the 4th Sprint 15 to have registered, we dont make it onto the list of classes taking part.......we can do better than t...

Re: Eurocat 2015, Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd May

Hi...... I'd be up for that, plus I've a robust trailer capable of two up, and storage box so anyone from the North West wishing to share the journey would be welcome. The Eurocamp option sounds good. After the experiences of 2014, will you put together an information sheet for new-comers? Kevin 1615

Radio controlled cat

Those attending the dinghy show may have seen the Dragon Force 65 RC yacht on display, fully complete including radio gear aprox £160, the same company had on display their prototype RC cat. Follow the link through the forum below to see some footage of the prototype under sail. Should be on sale in...

Re: Boat Owner Certification. For your info.

I've a letter and three digit number stamped on the rear surface of the mast base-plate. Is that the mast ID? What if you change the base-plate?

Re: New sail

Thanks for the info.....as you say Bob, a new sail gives you a feel good factor plus a little extra speed if you use it correctly. I always prep the battens as you suggest, and use the sponge tape to protect against shroud damage. I've looked after my sails and the association bought one has lasted ...

Re: New sail

Yes that's a cool 1K with battons and numbers. Is it necessary or advantageous to purchase new battons with a new sail? My current sail bought through the association is ok, I still have the original 1991 'fashion' both with a complete set of battons. The plan was to swop them all over with a new on...

Re: winter storage

Hi, yes as long as the tramp is protected from the sun (your new cover should protect the boat and tramp from UV radiation), then I would keep the tramp on, I guess you could take some of the tension out of it, if the boat is out of use for some time. I would never leave valuable stuff attached to t...
