At Thorpe Bay, we are trying to get everyone out. Some boats will be sailing two-up with main and jib. We have a number of members who are not only new to Sprints, but new to sailing: something for the experienced guys bear in mind.

I reckon we will have fifteen Thorpe Bay entries.

Andrew,

Thorpe Bay Yacht Club TT 28/29th April 2007.

The first TT event of the Sprint 15 summer programme is being held at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club on 28th and 29th April 2007. Owing to tidal constraints, the open meeting will have an early start. The briefing will be 9.30 am, and the first race is at 10.30 am. For many, this will mean an early start on ...

The race officer is aware that time recordings are necessary to cope with both modes. So no problem if you wish to trapeze. For club racing, Thorpe Bay boats have a gentlemen's agreement to race una-rig, as it gives us a feel for one-design racing. Also, newcomers are less inclined to be overawed if...

That's great news Ben. It's just what we want to hear. Very soon now, I'll be making a detailed posting of the Thorpe Bay TT. It may interest you to know the TBYC fleet will be descending upon Seasalter en-masse, when it comes to your TT in july. Indeed, I am in the process of writing a song about o...

Southern Teach-in at Thorpe Bay 21st April 2007

This year, the Southern Teach-in is being held at Thorpe Bay YC, Southend-on-sea, Essex. It will be different from previous teach-ins insofar that it is being held on just one day (saturday) instead of the usual two. However, entries are welcome to join the resident fleet of Sprints for the sunday r...

Every time I look at the Sprint website, there is something new. I recall there were plenty of other Instow pictures from 2006 which could entertain us. Also, Gurnard have some pics that were taken on a windy day. These are fun as well. I keep on dreaming I'll be able to sail like these boys one day...

I bought a road trailer from West Mersea Trailers about 5 years ago. It was a great trailer which was described as suitable for a Dart 15/18. It cost £720. But I thought there were two defects: 1) The eight foot galvanised box could have been wider. At about 18 inches, it was only just wide enough t...

Hi Martin,

I trust these ranks will be listed in The Daily Telegraph, or better still, The Naval Review!

Will we be awarded an honour, if we made a cash donation to the Seasalter beer kitty?

TBYC

We use average lap times at Thorpe Bay. All the cats start together, and the course is usually shortened for everyone, after about 90 minutes. We have done this for many years, where the cats were given square courses. But this area has become a bit of a problem. In the days when there were no asymm...
