Enjoyed the magazine very much. Good balance of race reports, pictures and non racing. Interesting Chairman's piece I thought.

Reagrding Andrew Philips, I have now realised that we swopped masts at Filey back in 2006. I have to say I did not recognise that fact at the weekend when we spoke - hope you did not think me rude. Again, enjoyed the event very much and hope the Sprints get back there soon

Thought I'd place a short report here - if it needs to go elsewhere then please tell me or feel free to copy and paste. Six Halifax boats joined and Ray Gall from Carsington joined a local boat (whose name I forget) to make a total of 8 boats and a class start for Sprint 15s at the Filey regatta. It...

What Steve did not mention in his initial post was that a Lancastrian interloper did the first race, looked at the snow on the decks and decided that the pub down the road was a better bet - and with hindsight still does.

Hi Robin,

Would you know how the other countries are thinking? Have they been refused consultation too? Europe has huge numbers of cats, and I can only think the RYA proposal will be rejected by them.

Andrew
Hi Andrew

I am afraid I have no knowledge of other countries.

Morecambe and Heysham Yacht Club regatta

I recently attended the Morecambe and Heysham Yacht Club for their annual regatta. It was a windy affair although sadly I was the only Sprint 15 sailing. There are four Sprints at the club, none of whom, for various reasons, could sail. Still, they were glad to have me visit and maybe next year will...

I have today received a reply to my email to the RYA regarding the subject of this post. I am not going to paste in the whole reply as I am unsure of etiquette here (and have made errors on such before!) but I will attempt to summarise. It would seem that Brian Phipps and Rob White know about both p...

I have registered my disapproval Bob and, as a member, asked the RYA for their reasons. To others interested, the linkposted by Bob needs the .pdf missing off the end to work

It sounds like a good timetable to me as well Bob. Looking forward to the sailing and the meal. Sorry to have missed Carsington this weekend. Thanks for that Brian. I understand the point you are trying to make. Coming from a dinghy background and sailing where boats where mast bend is governed by rig tension and other controls, I have still to get used to these tree trunk floppy rigs. All interesting stuff though, making me want to get o...

This reply is a little late but never mind. When I said the diagram was a little dodgy, I meant in terms of accuracy, regarding the statement air travels faster round the leeward side as it has further to travel Sails work because the pressure on the leeward side is less than that on the windward si...

Dinghy Sailing Magazine Cat article

There is a good article by Brian Phipps in the latest issue of DSM about single handed catamaran sailing. I don't think it is all about Sprint 15s but the majority applies to our boat. Good food for thought. (Only reservation is about the wind flow diagram which is a little dodgy)
