Re: Any Sprint 15's for sale

I am already entered for Grafham with 1240. I'll talk to Erling and we shall see what I sail.

Re: Any Sprint 15's for sale

I am interested in Sprint 1953. How do I get in touch with Erling or will he be at Grafham?

Re: Newsprint Spring 2012

The latest newsprint was an excellent - so many good articles, including "Class Struggle" of which I eagerly await the next episode.

We can tell people that joining the association is worth it for the magazine alone.

1240

I recently bought this boat from a member of Glasson Sailing Club (where it had been owned by at least one other person). I am currently lavishing some time and money on it, replacing the tramp, mainsail and more. A hull refurb should see it looking good. Would like to know more of its history. Robi...

White boats

Does anyone know the range of sail/boat numbers that were made by Rob/Reg White for Laser before they ceased association with the class. I think the numbers range from about 1920 to 1990 but would like to know precisely. Robin Boardman 1758 & 1078 PS I did try searching the forum under White but...

Thanks for your reply George (and all others to this thread). Many apologies for having made your name plural, after all I should have remembered that there is only one George Stephen! Your comments about mast rotation and the DX sail are indeed interesting. When I made my first post, I wondered whe...

Thanks for the link George, which by the way was missing a full stop so should have been http://www.sailns14.org/tech.aspx . I now understand a lot more about rotating masts. Am I right in thinking that the Sprint15 mast over over-rotates, not pointing into the apparent wind but more at the shroud? ...

Mast rotation

I would like to post a question that has been on my mind for some time. Why do cat masts rotate ie they are not fixed fore and aft as most dinghy masts are? My thoughts are that by controlling the rotation, an efficient wing mast type effect is created. Also, the amount of mast bend can be controlle...

Short top forestay strop

Whilst rigging his boat recently at our club, Halifax SC, one of our members noticed that the reason the mainsail was not going up smoothly was that the mast was horizontal, the short strop at the top of the forestay having snapped. Further inspection revealed the top jib furler swivel was almost se...

Now owned by Robin Boardman and sailed at Glasson sailing Club (in Morecambe Bay). Past its racing best but still in good solid condition.

Previous owner was one Nigel Duckett around which there was a Beaver Sailing Club connection.

Dinghy Sailing Magazine (DSM) catamaran section

I have just sent the following email to DSM. I hope other Sprint15 readers will do the same - it's the main reason I get the magazine. Dear DSM I have just received and read the latest issue of DSM, under new editorship. I thoroughly enjoyed the content but was very dismayed that there was no articl...

Reading the latest edition of Dinghy Sailing, it would seem that there is still a possibility of sailing gaining an 11th event, letting a catamaran back in, not necessarily a Tornado. As regards the RYA's role in all this, am I mistaken or was it that organisation that first omitted the catamaran fr...

Is that it then?

I notice from the Y&Y site that the ISAF council have confirmed classes for the Olympics 2012 and there is no catamaran included. I was under the impression that there might be a late re-admission for a cat. I notice that the RYA have expressed disappointment about the class choices but such exp...
