Spark 223

This ageing Spark, plus two older Dart 18's have just been rescued from land to the north of Bognor. After some refurbishing over the winter, we hope to have them available as Club boats for use over the 2018 season. On first inspection the old Spark looks as if it hasnt had a great deal of use, as ...

Re: #1975

I had a great time sailing my 15 at LBC from 2001- 2004. I had 1962 FREDDIE, and the sister boat 1963 was sailed by Deborah Fu. Both were imported new from the uk in late 2001. 1975 arrived about a year or so later, again imported new from the UK, by Nina Schulz Matter. Sadly 15 sailing declined aft...

Re: One design Sprint 15

Hi folks, although I am not so active on the circuit nowadays, I am still passionate about my 15. So here is my input. In my mind there was a key meeting between your Association with Windsport in March 2012, to discuss COST SAVING MEASURES, prior to getting UK production restarted. I was at that mee...

Re: Why doesn't my new sail point as well as the old one?

Hi folks, and many thanks to those who have given their advice on my problem with the new sail. In a strange kind of way, its good to know that others have encountered the same issue. So I will be taking it all to heart and will give the new sail a good stretching in Sunday's racing at ODC, where a ...

Why doesn't my new sail point as well as the old one?

Hi folks. My old sail, (2002 vintage) is showing its age, but since I have had my new sail ( last year) I have noticed in club racing with other 15s that I can point noticeably higher with the old sail, possibly by as much as 5 degrees, compared to when I sail with the new one. As far as I can tell,...

SOS Save our Sailing Club

Hi folks, I did a post back in March, about the impending fate of Open Dinghy Club, and got some excellent responses and offers of help- so thank you all Sprint 15 Community. Now we need some more support. We are hopeful that our local council may look kindly on us and offer us a lease on some suita...

Re: Advice please on applying for grants for ODC

Firstly, many thanks to Liam and Jon, for their very prompt responses. I am following up both of their suggestions. Bob, it is indeed a real pain, and it doesnt look like a smooth road to find a solution. Initial approaches to both Worthing SC and Arun YC at Littlehampton have indicated that there a...

Advice please on applying for grants for ODC

Hi folks, our sailing club- Open Dinghy Club (ODC) is being forced to leave its home for the past 44 years, at the end of this year. We are investigating alternative sites in our part of the West Sussex coast. Hence the question about grants. We have had no experience of going down this track, so we...

Re: Pwllheli Nationals 2016

I know that its miles into the future, but can Erling confirm the dates for Pwllheli for next year. Team FREDDIE may have grandchildren support as crew for next year (and some may say that I really do need a crew to keep lookout for me!), and amazing as it may seem, some accomodation in the Pwllheli...

Changing your Subs Standing Orders

Well folks, just thought that as most of you will be having some free time over the Christmas period, that it is timely to remind you to go and update your standing orders for the new subs. The subs go up to £20 by SO from 1st January 2013. You need to go on line to your bank and update the instruct...

Re: DX Rig

I am posting this message in my role as Secretary of the Sprint 15 Association. I think you all know that your Class Association has been co-operating with Ray Gall and Steve Sawford whilst they have developed the DX rig, and the DX rig has been allowed to be sailed in the current Winter TT series t...

Did you leave your mainsheet at Netley??

Hi folks- I've received a message from a club member at Netley, that he found a D15 mainsheet left on his boat after the Nationals. If anyone is missing this, please get back to me, and I can put you in touch with the Netley member.

Cheers

Thanks guys for all the advice- there is much to ponder. I am hoping to try sailing Freddie this Sunday, when a good wind is forecast, so I can try and judge how she sails before making any changes. I have come to the conclusion that any re-alignment of the pintles is a job to be done at home, in th...

The saga of the rudder alignement continues....... The conclusions from yesterdays measuring session were that the port rudder,( which took all the impact) is vertical and tracks straight, the starboard rudder is tilted out of the vertical by approx 16-18mm. Further examination suggests that the bot...
