Pre-nationals training day?

One of the items raised during the Dinghy Show Q&A with Brian and Tom was the possibility of some Windsport training on the day prior to the start of the nationals in Weymouth (i.e. Friday 25th June) Whether we can make it happen depends on the people and the facilities being available - nothing...

Re: 1488

Here's some additional info from Pete Ansbro via the "Sprint 15 sailors (Dart 15) (Spark)" Facebook group. Ownership appears to have been: From new (~1989) - Pete Ewing (Laser Centre Sales Manager) 1990s? - Pete Ansbro (Grafham) ~2000 - Cardiff Bay sailor 2006 - David Ball (Marconi SC) 201...

Re: 1488

I was prompted by an FB post to look back here and realised I missed out some history after making this statement in 2007 At the helm of this boat I have only the Marconi Challenge Cup (annual pursuit race) to my name. I hope to start making Sprint 15 traveller events in 2008 if work and family comm...

Re: Grafham Cat Open / Nationals entry opens tomorrow!

For any night owls, bookings are open so you can register now. Be sure to select the Sprint 15 entry (£55) not the singlehanded option, which is for other single handed classes.

Re: Sport mode tips for the uninitiated

Racing was cancelled at Marconi yesterday as the breeze was a bit brisk for the first half, but it moderated eventually in the afternoon and 4 Sprints set out for some sport mode "practice" - i.e. hacking around the river a bit dangling from the wire. It will come as no surprise to anyone ...

Sport mode tips for the uninitiated

With the unarig nationals aborted in August but the sport nationals going ahead September (all being well) there's never been a better excuse for us hull sitters/hikers to dust off the jib and trapeze harness. Ordinarily I ration my Sprint 15 travelling to two events each year: unarig nationals and ...

Re: Latest NEWSPRINT out now!

Mine arrived today (Tuesday 9th) so delivery times are clearly variable - don't give up yet if you're still waiting. Great job Yvonne. Thanks for your efforts. In his excellent write up for the Dinghy Show George Love did (naturally) neglect to mention the efforts of one person: himself. The time an...

Re: downwind in heavy weather

Without wishing to be too crude, I hike slightly and put a bottom cheek/thigh each side of the raised deck over the rear beam. This reduces risk of sliding forward when boat stops. Also gets weight right back to keep bows up. I put both feet under the toe straps, making sure straps are slid far enou...

Re: Windy Nationals

I'm still a little shocked and lost for words. Clearly a special weekend for me that I'll remember for a long time. I'm conscious it must also have been frustrating at times for those unable to compete while the wind was at its more extreme, and those who suffered wounds to body, boat and/or pride. ...

Re: Windy Nationals

the tips linked above will be helpful to anyone who's not done much 15 sailing in stronger winds but feels ready to give it a go I should have added, a Nationals is the ideal opportunity to do this. Quality race management, good support boat cover, lots of advice on hand and the chance to see first...

Re: Windy Nationals

Whilst I don't wish to deny the Force 7 brigade their opportunity to break their boats and themselves, we will try to make the racing as inclusive as we can Agree. F7 is not racing its surviving (or breaking people/stuff). A skill in itself (surviving, not breaking) but not something to intentional...

Windy Nationals

Looking at the forecast it seems at least some of the nationals races could be a bit breezy, or at least gusty. Seems a good time to remind folks about the excellent 'tips' area of this website, and especially https://www.sprint15.com/faq/strong.php I'll see if I can print off a few copies to bring ...

Re: Lost jacket at Marconi

Hi Paul
Jen has your jacket. She'll be on the south coast next few days and will bring it with her. If you can pm her (maybe Facebook) she'll see if a handover can be arranged.
