Re: Race Tracking with RaceQS

Lots of info above! Thanks guys. One thought... another advantage of a phone with working sim is that the phone network should keep your clock adjusted accurately. I'm guessing that boat on boat comparison will look odd if the recording devices don't agree on the time of day within a few seconds of ...

Re: Thinking of a NEW SAIL for next season?

Thanks Brian and Liam. Email sent to Gary for a new sail. Sadly I'm not in the position for a new boat just now :)

Re: How much?!?! Trailer stuff

What I've learned about trailers (sorry, never car topped) The wider the roller the better. I just switched mine to 8" V profile. Previous were 5" flat profile with raised edges and the boat tended to travel sideways while rolling on and want to jump off the side. I found bow snubber block...

Re: Queries following a beautiful fast sail

Hi, 1. We had quite a lot of water (several inches, multiple full sponges to empty) beneath each hatch afterwards. I am assuming that as it was in all 4 it is the hatches leaking rather than any holes. The rubber seals are barely visible which makes me wonder if they need replacing. Is this an easy...

Re: First sail teething

a) Our port rudder blade didn't want to stay in the up position very well. Any tips on what to adjust/oil/tighten/loosen/... so that when the white plastic tube slips on top of the blade it stays there. Firstly check that the spring and roller mechanism in the rudder stock has a smooth action and i...

Re: New cover choice

I have the windsport one, which was purchased for me at the start of 2012, so in its 5th year of use. Very happy with it. Feels sturdy and all the straps and clips still intact. Material is starting to fade a little on top but no reason to think it won't last many more years. That said, I've bought ...

Re: What to wear recommendations please

A basic shorty wetsuit will fine for most spring/summer/autumn days provided you have good spray top & trousers to wear over it when the breeze/spray is up. I can't emphasise enough the importance of that outer layer - on a cat trampoline you are exposed to the chill of wind and spray from head ...

Expecting at least 4 from Marconi, myself included, and likely a few more. Looking forward to it.

Re: Marconi TT 2015

Hi Gordon. It'll be great to see you.

Jen, Kevin, Pete and I were really sorry to miss the Nationals this year (it clashed with our club Cadet Week in which we are all involved) so are looking forward to catching up with folks this weekend.

Forecast looks pretty good, with F2,3,4 across the 2 days.

I knew when the first ex-hurricane of the year rolled across the uk it must be time for Grafham again :D I'm bringing even more spare battens this year.

There should be 5 boats from Marconi if all goes to plan. Looking forward to it.

Re: Welcome page photos

PS I'm really happy that the picture of me capsizing at Marconi some 15 years ago will not greet me on the welcome page anymore  If you could give dates of the capsize it would be handy in finding it and making it prominent on the web site. I should have the original on a harddrive somewhere ...

Re: Sprint 15 success at East Coast Piers Race

Excellent result. Well done Mark and Andy, and thank you for supporting the event. There were respectable results for other Sprint 15s too. Full Colne Point listing here http://www.eastcoastpiersrace.com/html/results/colnepoint/2014-ecpr-colne-point-results.htm Jenny and I did the full ECPR in her S...
