Re: Oxford Winter TT 7th December

Robert -
I enjoyed the film of the race, as did my fellow passenger on the 7:29 to Waterloo! A good edit.
Cheers Keith

Re: Marconi TT

Excellent weekends sailing - big thanks to Marconi for the slick organisation of the racing and the reassuring presence of the rescue crews. Well done Fenella and the team.

Re: Instow 2012

how many of our fleet do you reckon are well up on the writings of Aldous Huxley? More than you might think :D - Nick nicked the idea from Huxley and Huxley nicked the idea from Shakespeare (Tempest "o brave new world that has such people in it" to which the answer was "tis new to th...

Re: sailbox for Dart 15 trailer

Keith, Steve Sawford makes a really good fibre glass box which as well as a lid has a door at the end for putting stuff in when you have forgotten and the boat is on the trailer. It has ply glassed into the base so you can screw stuff into it if needed. I have had one for 3 years and it has been gre...

Re: Seasalter TT

Hi Steve - a big thanks for the weekend - really well organised racing in very challenging conditions and to the rescue crews who were kept quite busy. I noticed on the club website I was down as a finnisher on the infamous third race - if only this were true :D I actually retired after starting and...

Southern championships

Just to say a big thanks to Earling, race officer and the Shanklin team and especially the rescue boat crews for an excellent weekends sailing. Saturday saw perfect sailing conditions F3 and sunshine and the race officer set three races because of the forecast for Sunday. Sunday, to quote one sailor...

Dear Charles, I got one of Steve's boxes too. It keeps the kit dry and mine is outside all year round. The base is quite thick and is designed so that you can screw various fittings into it, if you want to. The main bennefit is that you don 't have to build one, from experience Im not a wood worker ...

trailer lights

I remembered there was a long thread on this - It was posted 30th August 2007. As an observation, the plastic bit of the light fitting is remarkably similar to the white boards that are used for road works between bollards -if that helps.

Big thanks to ODC

Just to say thanks to Keith and his team for a fantastic weekends racing. There is special mention to the Race Officer for setting great courses especially on the Saturday for giving us long exciting reaches. The Saturday was windy and the Sunday was sunny - if you wern't there you missed a good one...

hi David, I had the same problem. I replaced the white wheels and the track ran much better. On examination the old wheels did not look that bad/worn but the new ones certainly ran much better, in light winds the traveller would run by itself to the end of the track when turing onto the run. Does size matter?

For anyone tempted, a Stampede, Dart 20 is for sale on e-bay for about £395. Same as a Sprint 15, but without the advantage of being able to car top it :D

Having done 5 nationals, I still do not understand the P course and why one way is better than the other, but I hope the penny will drop one day. Gordon is right that the Pwlheli nationals had a good P course by moving the buoys a large distance from the start/finish line. I think it is a tricky cou...

If its really windy then work yourself to the back of the boat and hang onto the rear beam. Then steer the boat into wind using the rudder connecting bar, once into wind, climb aboard between the rear beam and the connecting bar. I did this a few years ago at the Queen Mary winter open and it worked...

The retentive bit was aimed at me as I spent about two evenings looking this up - not understanding it - and then ringing the Police

No - its another Keith 1840 - only to claim to fame in a Dart 15 is being T-boned at Saundersfoot, first race, first lap - just lucky I guess.

cheers
