Re: Back to Dart.

We might call our class Dart 15. But our association website is still headed Sprint Association.

Re: Wetsuit boots

Thank you, Keith. That is very helpful. The Rooster soles seem more substantial which is what I am looking for.

Wetsuit boots

Has anybody recently upgraded their wetsuit boots to a newer pair? Mine were Gul. I was entirely happy with them until they gave up. So I bought the latest boots of the same brand. Unfortunately, the soles of the new pair are ludicrously thin, meaning that I feel every pebble on the beach. Friends t...

Re: Back to Dart.

I much prefer the original Dart 15 logo. It’s a profile of a hull. The interim logo meant nothing to me.

Re: Standard sail vs. square top sail

Square-topped sails were all the rage a few years ago. The Hurricane 5.9s adopted them as they, hitherto, had pointy tops just like the Sprints. However, the square tops were experimental and the Sprint class never adopted them. Square tops were a fun thing. Eg like spinnakers which some Sprinters a...

Re: 2022 RYA Dinghy Show

I received a free pen at the final ex-cel boat show in London’s Docklands. Presumably, I was expected to use it to write a cheque for a million pound motor boat. There was hardly anyone around. Not even at the Guinness stand which is the usual place for friends to gather. There was nothing to intere...

Re: 2022 RYA Dinghy Show

I reckon the move to Farnborough will be a flop. Certainly, it brings the show to nearer the RYA’s sphere of operations on the south coast. But will there be a reduced footfall? Originally, the show at Alexandra Palace was for enthusiasts in class associations. Classes were put on show to entice sai...

Re: 2022 RYA Dinghy Show

There will need to be a lot of taxis at the stations.

When the show was held at the Ally Pally, there was a bus service (W3) from Wood Green. Will there be similar bus services from the Farnborough stations?

Better sailor? Who’s to say! There were a lot of good Sprint sailors during your time, Bob!

Number of penalty turns

Please could someone clarify the number of turns, following a rule infringement.

I understand that it is a 360 degree turn for Sprints and 720 for everyone else. Is this so?

And in the case of a handicap race, how many turns should a Sprint do?

With thanks. And HNY!

Corky.

Re: 2022 RYA Dinghy Show

This is a surprise. I know Farnborough for two reasons. The air show and where Napoleon 3rd is buried.

Is the venue near a railway station?

Re: Nationals Results

As someone who didn’t enter the championship, I am very grateful to Liam for posting up the results each day. Those that don’t enter are invariably keen to how everyone is doing. So a round of applause to Liam!

May I add my congratulations to Mark for winning it.
