Re: Chairman

Gordon, It is a great pity that you are stepping down as chairman of the class. You came into the role under sad circumstances, but made the role your own and in your own style. You managed to covey your enthusiasm of the class to new and existing sailors alike and encourage them which, with the hel...

Re: My Sprint in a thousand years

Hi Andrew, In anser to your question - they could be sailing! fibreglass while not immortal is very close to it. The article attached shows a day yacht submerged for 2 years - pulled up - restored and now winning races. http://www.ericgreeneassociates.com/images/Boat_Longevity.pdf Recent article in ...

Re: One design Sprint 15

Stuart I have a solution to your problem of pulling the boat up the beach with more weight, fit a drogue or sea anchor hung off the rear beam, they are quite light, could I helpfully suggest the 3 metre diameter one. http://www.lalizas.com/product/31-sea-anchors-drogues/2849-professional-sea-anchor-...

Re: One design Sprint 15

The accuracy and the precision between weighing devices has worried me a little in the reporting of the weights. Commercial calibrated (calibrated by standard weights) load cells, e.g. 100Kg maximum weight has a typical variability of 0.025% or 8g in 30 Kg, but I came across the article below that s...

I have only just noticed - being dim, that the fantastic photos are by a larger number of talented photographers than previous stated: - Cindy Chung, Pauline Love, Yvonne Pike, Rosy Snell and Brigitte McKenna - Thank you to all of you and the ones I still may have missed.

Re: What to wear recommendations please

Hi Dave and Jane, The fleet, well known for its fashion sense, vary quite a bit. At one end there is the "Shanklin dandy" Paul G, who spares no expense, to the downright scruffy (no names to spare blushes). Many wear a breathable drysuit all year round, which is good if you always tend to ...

Re: Goodbye and Good Luck

Hi Stuart, You are no doubt retiring to keep up the production of your elixir of eternal youth! It has been a real pleasure sailing with you, although to be fair I was only ever near you in a race if you capsized, and you stopped doing that after a while. Safe journey and enjoy your travels. Re: Seasalter TT May21/22

A big thanks to all the team at Seasalter for a brilliant event, great courses, great hospitality and enough to do to stop the rescue boats crews from getting board, including the honour of towing in our very own Chairman. Very nice to have a Seasalter "light winds" event :D regards Keith ...

Re: Marconi Traveller - 23 and 24 April 2016 - Registration

Just like to add my own thanks at an open meeting brilliantly organised and to all the members of Marconi who helped land the visitors boats by wading chest high in freezing water, this prevented a bonazar for boat repairers! Who would have thought there could such large waves that far up an estury ...

Re: Sprint 15 Nationals NDYC - 6 - 8 June 2014

Big thanks to all at North Devon Yacht Club especially the rescue crews. Thanks for towing me off the sand bar and standing by after the capsizes. Really glad that Brian from windsport was at the nationals otherwise I would have gone home on the first day. I don't remember breaking so much stuff in ...
