Legal boats

I can see there is a lot of upset, and it is a poor state of affairs for the best class of boat I have ever sailed in. I hope the class will go from strength to strength from the definitions that arise from this... I can't really see the reason. If my boat is 1 kg heavier so what ... 6 kg lighter - ...

Re: Chairman

Thank you for your service Gordon, I am sorry to see your departure but thank you for all you have done and to Chris for stepping in. I am so sorry the weight issue has been such a burden. The investigation appears to have been intense and massively comprehen but, I believe, the resolution of adding...

I am sure Sophia will appreciate an extra day off school honing our technique.

Re: One design Sprint 15

A very valid point Keith. To weigh my boat I used a Salter Brecknell WS60 Bench Scale with a resolution of 20g and an accuracy of +- 20g up to 60kg ( http://www.oneweigh.co.uk/salter-brecknell-ws15ws60ws120-bench-scale-186-p.asp ). Even though you can get a calibration certificate for an additional ...

Re: One design Sprint 15

Some good points.. The easy one to focus on is: “5.3. A boat shall be allowed to race only if it satisfies the requirements for a valid Measurement Certificate. Boats without cocktail cabinets in each hull shall carry correction weights. ” Surely that means boats without cocktail cabinets and withou...

Re: One design Sprint 15

I agree with Paul. What would seem sensible is a gentleman's agreement (without the need to wait for the AGM) where people with the new boats add weight as that seems to be where the immediate problem lies. The easiest way to do this is to drop a bag(s) of lead shot in each bag (easy to buy on eBay)...

Re: One design Sprint 15

I haven't weighed Double Trouble but, if over weight, I would gladly document an easy way to remove the cabinets and how much weight is saved. It would not recover the full weight as I would not be taking the deck off... ADDITIONAL EDIT (having actually read the previous posts I had not seen): I wil...

Re: One design Sprint 15

I think that removing cocktail cabinets on overweight boats is a great idea. I am not sure where in the rules it precludes this??? As far as I can tell, it would just become a non cocktail boat that would need correctors if it became under weight.

One design Sprint 15

The class rules for National Championships say: “5.3. A boat shall be allowed to race only if it satisfies the requirements for a valid Measurement Certificate. Boats without cocktail cabinets in each hull shall carry correction weights. ” I am not sure why they should be just for the Nationals! Our...

Re: Light wind sprint sailing

I make no changes but maybe I am just lazy. I have in the past tried more batten tension and less rake. Less rake was really bad. John Shenton makes his boat REALLY fast sometimes with lots of batten tension in light winds.

Probably not much help...

Re: Trident Drysuits

I have had zero longevity with minimal use from Trident. More than 1 in the bin unfortunately :-( It is all down to the material and maybe that has changed. We also have Sophia's Crewsaver going in the bin as well (probably 50hrs of use) but my Magic Marine is going strong after 4 or 5 years of seri...
