One question though. What is the thinking behind having a neck for the mainsheet? What is the advantage of having the mainsheet attached (presumably to the halyard)? It doesn't seem to support the cover so I haven't bothered and have just attached halyard to centre eyelet and tied off.

Hi Martin, the neck at the back of the cover is so you can hang the mainshet system from the halyard if you want to , may be overnight at a regatta, it holds the halyard away from the mast. You can then run a light line from thehang point on the cover up through the halyard ring to hold the cover up.
You will aslo see you can fit the cover on with the rudders still attached , again if you leave the boat like that or when at a openmeeting.
