Isle of Sheppey SC

Post by Andrew Hannah »

I note the Isle of Sheppey SC is seeking a grant from Sailability to upgrade its facilities. I don't really understand it, but I gather everything depends on people voting in support. The more, the better chance of success.

Apparently, you have to vote between 9.00am and midnight on 22nd November. You can either vote online or by phone. See IOS SC website for further details.

The IOS is famous for its Round Sheppey Race, which is supported by Sprints. The IOS club also has a small domestic fleet of Sprints. I plan to vote. There is a note on the TBYC website to encourage our members. Is there any chance of spreading the word around our other fleets and clubs?

Hi All

A friend and fellow sailor Dean Abra sailed one of our Access 303 at sheppey ,he sailed a Dart 15 and was hooked, I accepted his Access to trade in on Ron's Dart 15, 1784 where he sailed it for a few years, Dean sold the Dart 15 to Jim Jefferies . With his disability progressing and making it very difficult to handle a cat and general use of the sailing club he has not sailed much.I spoke to dean and he is planning some Access sailing next year :)

The Rya Sailability programs work with the sailing clubs to help put in facilities to enable people with disability use there local club and help with boats that allow safe and accessible sailing.
So Lets all vote

I received an e-mail flyer from Sally Atkinson (UKIDA Secretary and IOSSC member) today and have circulated it to all our members and all the representatives on our local water safety committee.

Well IOSSC did it.

It was announced on Meridian TV that they have won over £41,000 for club refurbishments and accessibility.

They received the cheque from the Meridian presenter.
