Southern championships

Post by Keith »

Just to say a big thanks to Earling, race officer and the Shanklin team and especially the rescue boat crews for an excellent weekends sailing. Saturday saw perfect sailing conditions F3 and sunshine and the race officer set three races because of the forecast for Sunday. Sunday, to quote one sailor was "just mental" 20 - 30 knots with one gust clocked at 42 knots. A number of boats finished and a number did not! Capsized boats that needed help got it and those that didn't righted their boats and carried on. Great organization great barbie and really sensible racing decisions contributed to an excellent weekend - thanks Shanklin.

Absolutely agree, thanks to everyone at Shanklin for a great event both on & off the water.

Sunday really was that wild & going down wind was a real sleigh ride to oblivian (almost!). That was the first time I've ever worn round in a cat!

Well done to Tina for getting within a hair's bredth of finishing on Sunday, some really gutsy sailing from a woman who is about 9st wet through! Get yourself to Pwllheli !! Hope you enjoy your "prize" - I'm sure Simon (being a medical man) can explain the relevance

Looks like a really good event.
Good entry :D
I counted at least 13 travellers :D
Good weather :)
Looks like Robin has not lost the touch :P after all that sailing a Shadow :(

I'm also impressed by the Shanklin Website. It is a while since I looked at it and it is really good.
Good display of the results :) and very quickly after the event :D
The picture gallery and how you can view it a picture at a time by clicking the arrow is one of the best I have seen :D
Well done to all concerned.
Cheers
