Sprint 15 Nationals - NDYC Instow

Post by peter ewing »

Sprint 15 Nationals - North Devon Yacht Club Instow North Devon.

Just a quick reminder the Sprint 15 Nationals 10th 11th & 12th June 2011, the apre`s sail programme is nearly finalised, the beach has been swept and wind is on its way. This is going to be a Nationals that everybody who enters will talk about for years to come, and those that didnt will regret not doing so.

Instow, when the tide is in must be one of the most exceptional places to sail in the U.K, I can think of only a couple of places as good but none better. But what puts this venue ahead of anywhere else, is the people. Where else can you go and get free accommodation (talk to Mary Jane Scott scotts3@btinternet.com for further details), exceptional food and bar facilities all manned by NDYC volunteers. Racing organised and run by Richard Stone and his team, veteran of litarally 100s of successful lacal and National events, and is well experianced with running Sprint 15 regattas.

The club will be open Thursday evening for early arrivals, this weekend will be a feast of exiting, fast and competitive sailing, complimented by an unbeatable Apre`Sail programme, so dont miss it.

For further details, notice of race etc, click the link on the homepage.

Best Regards

Here at Instow things are hotting up, last weekend a four race warm up for the Nationals, Keith Heason reckons he`s in with a chance, its possible if he can keep his head and his boat together. Barry Vincent is very quick as well, Anthony Gray may do O.K if he can get his competence up to the same level as his knowledge of the rules.

15 boats were all out at the weekend training for the big one, it was hairy sailing but really good fun nevertheless, more training sessions planned for the next few weekends, both on and off the water.

Don`t forget your earlybird entry discount.

Best Regards

If you are quick you can still save money, a few days only at £40 to include a dinner and at the same time send me your entry for August Nationals at a discount, only £60 to include another meal. So for a total of £100 you get two Nationals for less than most classes pay for one.

Ever considered a career in sales Erling?

You are absolutley right, 6 days of National Chamionship sailing with the odd meal thrown in is an absolute bargain!

Hi all ,
has anybody found a B&B or camp site near to the sailing club ? I have left booking accommodation until last minute and Ed and I are struggling to find a bed . We are not proud , warm and dry will do for us !
Where are we off loading our boats , is it on the beach again ? Ed and I are double staked and could do with a hand to unload .
Looking forward to a fun w/e .
Cheers
Derek.

Thank you Instow for 3 days of interesting sailing, my body needs a weeks rest to get over it, and to think someone from Shanklin could win, sadly not me. Also the sporting gesture of Steve Sowford to
lend young Paul a tramp for the last day even though he was the only parson that could take the title from him.
