When the wind is right it is possible to beat those monohulls. :D :D :D :D

Well done Mark

I'm just wondering if Thomas Sandal was 2nd overall, not 3rd.

I understand the PY for Sprints is now 918. Crucially, in Race 4, there were just three seconds between the second and third places. If the positions had been reversed, Thomas would not have tied on points and would have been placed second overall.

Good spot Andrew,
I'll check out why they used the wrong PN.
Cheers

Thanks Bob.

It was indeed a good day for the Sprint 15. Wind was gusting up to ~30knots and we had four different courses:
Course 1 was a trapezoid and I pitch poled on the top reach on lap 2 (I think). Thomas then sailed by with a big grin and he finally beat my be 2 seconds depsite his ailments on the day of man flu, sore knee and cut thumb - poor old boy!
Course 2 was a Windward/Leeward which I wasn't really looking forward to but on a dead run in these winds the downwind leg was rather exciting. For the first time ever I saw right in front of me as I sat on the rear beam to keep the bows up a Flying Fifteen capsize so violently the crew were thrown right out. The FF stayed on it's side and by all accounts there were two that capsized - bit like buses!
Course 3 was a reverse P which again was supeb in the winds.
Course 4 with a depleted entry was a big triangle and once again the winds pushed the SP15 around just fine.

Peter Saxton (Club Commmodore and Olympian Race Officer) was CRO for the day and all courses were spot on as was the quick turnaround inbetween races.

I still ache today!
