Filey SC Regatta 2015 - 27th & 28th June

Post by Charles »

Hi All

Just thought I'd let you know that a few of the Sprinters from Halifax are planning to get their buckets & spades out and pop over to Filey for the Regatta, if anyone else 'up north' is interested.

I realise it's the same weekend as the Sport Nationals, but as these are pretty much at the opposite ends of the country I don't think many Sprinters will be torn between the two.

Anyone interested please get in touch with Filey SC

I am one of those Northerners. As Charles says, I don't feel it will clash with the Sport nationals at all, just give northern based Sprinters a rare chance to get together locally for some racing on the sea when they would otherwise stay at home.
I have contacted Filey SC who are keen to have us and state that we can have a separate start with 6 or more boats. I do feel this is essential and hence feel we do need to have more than 6 saying they will go, on this forum I suggest, before the event is "confirmed". Halifax SC will provide 3 or 4 and there are now I believe 2 Sprint 15s at Yorkshire Dales SC who might be interested.

If Filey are a cat friendly sailing club they should consider affiliating the club to the UKCRA cat friendly club program , that will give them access to a host of cat clubs they can promote their event to specially in the North. www.catamaran.co.uk

I'm up for a trip to Filey again, it's been a long time since I last sailed there, you can probably count son Ben in too :D

I have, belatedly, registered Halifax SC on http://%20www.catamaran.co.uk/clubs

Interesting to see that the portal states that http://www.ballyholme.com/ and http://www.gbsc.ie/ are in the same country - that could be seen as contentious in some circles.

We have not managed to get the 6 required for a fleet start so Charles and I won't be going this year. However, perhaps we could try again next year as a "Northern Sea Event".

That is a pity. I bet you could just about make it to the Sport Nationals if you put your mind to it.

Quite. The forecast is very good for all three days in Sandown Bay.
