Stewartby racing

Post by Gordon »

Just home from Stewartby, weather forecast was spot on. Winds in the twenties, gusts of goodness knows but probably 30-40.
2 races sailed, entry around 15 + a few who chose to spectate (wise people). Even the Race officer was nervous!

Lots of capsizes...lots of pitchpoles, really quite wild.
Sorry, I had to come in after 1 race, it was too much for me.

Steve Sawford won. Liam will be putting all the results on soon. John Finch has kindly offered to do the write-up.

Got home to find Mrs G. (out for the day) had left me a short note, she knew the forecast :
"Hope sailing was a "breeze",
I'm not "wind"ing you up
Well "blow" me I am!
"Gales" of laughter

She has a sense of humour...at myexpense/

Regards
Gordon

Results are on the site. Hope they are OK - there were a number of alterations.

Good to hear from you Kevin.

Mark Hollis and Paul Shields came from Seasalter for this event. Well done Guys.

I think Mark must have been the day's capsize champion, I think he was over 4 times but got the back upright each time to carry on. (That's hard work!)
And I saw him use that one-handed recovery trick that I've seen you use.
They both said they're hoping to go to Oxford next month, there's room for another entry from Seasalter, come along .

Alan's pictures are on the site at http://www.sprint15.com/picture-gallery ... tby-TT.php

Somebody is upside down in most of them.

Nice shots. Can we mark the capsizes for style, technical ability, artistic content, etc?

I reckon that Paul Craft (1928) takes the prize on all counts :D

Mind you he might have done his pitchpole in front of the judges (camera man) to impress the audience on purpose :D :D :D

Cheers
