Fuel economy for crazy TTer

Post by dave42w »

So I'm planning to go to the Newhaven and Seaford TT.
That means around 400 miles driving.

I'm wondering if anyone has any data on how much my fuel economy would be improved if instead of carrying my mast full length on the trailer (extending over my van) I split it and strap it under the boat on the trailer.

Trying to judge if the slight extra hassle is going to make much difference.

I've towed with the mast attached both ways ( split mast strapped on top of beams rather than beneath though) and didn't notice any appreciable difference in fuel economy. Just down to personal preference really.

Thanks Andy,

I expect that as usual the biggest factor is speed.
