Database maintenance on Tuesday 18th October

Folks,
I am planning on doing a major restructure of the database that drives this website. This shouldn't cause any disruption to using the chat site but you never know.
The purpose of the restructure is to allow an update to the Nationals Event and Results system to make it more future proof since the current way of doing things is not sustainable. During the update all of the pages that produce nationals results for users and the administration part of the system will be replaced with new files that use the new structure so there maybe periods when these elements may produce unusual results! After the update everything should look the same but working in a more sensible way!

Martin,
Sounds good to me. In the update is there an opportunity to include the detailed results for each event together with the race report? The reason I ask is currently we get little extra information in the event results than you get for the whole series. Generally we have links provided to the full sailwave score sheet showing results in each race and it is better to provide it if we can.
Cheers
Bob

Hi Bob,
No I won't be adding that facility in this update. If the host club has the race results on their website then I can include a link to them, they would need to provide the link to me though. I don't really have the time to enter a whole race series for each event into the system, very busy doing other things.

Hi Martin,
No I agree you can't re-enter all of the data but most of the venues provide the link. Here is the Carsington one.

The Grafham one will also be available soon after the event.

This work was completed and over the next day or so I will post up the updated pages for the end users. The only issue I have found so far was with the nationals statistics part of the system where certain stats were not being recorded correctly, this has been fixed.

Thanks for the prompt report. Nice to see the detailed results, too. Would the race timings be anywhere? I'm interested in race 5 to see how a 4th place over the line changed to 17th on handicap...

Folks,
Another little adjustment has been added to the seriesresults page it now displays the competitor name as a link, clicking on which takes you to that competitors stats screen (in another window).
