Congratulations to Kyle Stoneham for his part in winning this year's ECPR with Dave White. http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/1 ... Piers-Race
A close inspection of the results also reveals Jenny Ball in 6th place in a Spitfire, along with a smattering of other familiar names - especially if one delves into the Colne Point list too. Three Sprint 15's finished: Gordon Deuce (Brightlingsea) was 18th, Kevin Morris (Grafham) was 21st and Derek Darley (Isle of Sheppey) was 27th. Interestingly, Derek entered as "Sprint 15 GTI" and received an SCHRS Rating of 1.404, whereas the other two 15's show up as "Sprint 15 Cat Boat" and were duly rated at 1.376. Curious :? .
Well done chaps, anyway.
Hadn't realised our chairman occasionally unleashes a Nacra Infusion, perhaps he'll offer me a ride on it one day  .
Anyone interested in a bit of extra practice before Brightlingsea might be interested in visiting the nice people at Bala Catamaran Club for their Enduro weekend on 28th/29th July http://www.balacatamaranclub.org.uk/Sai ... _back.html. Saturday is the long distance race and Sunday is round the cans with competition in slow/fast cat fleets + F18's on both days. It would be nice to see 15's represented there as well as on the East Coast.

Yes not a good day for the Sprint 15s - who usually do much better in the Colne Point race. Many of our better helms were on other boats.
The ECPC is sailed on the SCHRS handicap system. Under the formula a 2-up Sprint 15 has a different handicap to a unarig single handed Sprint 15. The same happens to the Dart 18.
Cheers
Bob

I was hoping someone might ask that. Bob has provided the answer above. SCHRS takes greater account of the weight of the crew than does PY, although I don't know how kind the 1.376 is anyway. Moral is if you have a light crew, give Sprint GTI a try in an SCHRS event.

The SCHRS website use their own naming convention as not all classes have names for all the rig options. It is clear on their website as each format shows number of crew, main, jib (if used), spinnaker (if used), number of trapezes, etc.
What irks me is that their PY look a like chart has not been updated since they changed the SCHRS calculation formula and is a very poor fit to the data. It favours the F18 but is very harsh on the Sprint 15 and the Dart 18. The motto is if your club sails catamarans against monohulls DO NOT USE the SCHRS lookalike PY chart which uses 692.7 as the conversion factor. A good fit to the data produces a convesion of PY estimate = SCHRS x 683.23
So use this, which is what we use at Grafham :D

Now I'm confused, Bob. Wouldn't 683.23 give a smaller range of values and therefore the F18's would have an even greater advantage?
