SSC = close call with the storms

Hi all,
I hope everyone is OK after the flooding. We had a tense time last night having been given the severe flood warning for Seasalter and everyone being evacuated from parts of Faversham Road. The EA dropped off sandbags for all the houses and the club.
I watched the tidal gauges along the east coast and the Thames as the surge came south and it reached Lowestoft at high water but pulled ahead of the tide steadily. Luckily although in the early rise of the tide the surge was 3 metres above predicted tides at Southend, by the time high water arrived the surge was dropping so we only ended up with 1metre extra but for several hours. Another metre or a time difference of only 1 hour and we would have been flooded at SSC.
Those who know our club will understand how high it was when I say that the new topsoil in our new sea wall ramp was washed out.
The only problem was that water seeping under the sea wall flooded our drains and the changing room. Well done to the EA for their warnings and help.
