Attention:- Rutland event this weekend coming!!!!

Post by Brian Phipps »

Hi All, Rutland Sprint 15 event this weekend weather looks great and if the wind is anything like forecasted down here in Cornwall you are on for a good one .
IMPORTANT. If you require any replacement parts for the racing you need to order them TODAY (Wednesday) as this is one of the few Sprint 15 events the Windsport trailer will not be attending.
Next Supported Sprint 15 event is the Sport Nationals on the IOW, as always if you are thinking of a new jib or something else that cannot go in a padded envelop! order early and get free delivery to the event. Even a new boat!!!
All the best , have a great TT
Brian and the Windsport team.

Sorry boys, I won't be there as I've got a couple of new Snettisham club members having demo sails. :D

I am afraid that neither 1714 or myself will be there.

Will be otherwise engaged practicing sailing with the little flappy sail and dangly wire thing in preparation for visiting the IOW.

I am trying to get to Rutland this weekend but have a trailer problem in that it does not have a mast support and my mast is 1-piece. Anyone know if a 1-piece mast can be carried on a roof rack, legally.

Hi Robin
The answer is yes, Keith Newnham puts both boat and mast on the roof, I think most has to be at the back.

Robin,

Try http://www.rya.org.uk/sitecollectiondoc ... ATIONS.pdf

I'd proceed as follows, being a bit on the prudent side:
Tie the mast on the roof rack so that about the same length sticks out over the front and the back.
If the mast sticks out more than a metre at both ends, have it stick out by 1 metre at the front and tie a large bright coloured old rag on the rear end.
If in doubt, tie the large colourful old rag on the rear end anyway.

I have no suggestions on sourcing a bright, preferably fluorescent, old rag......

Thanks Erling and George for the reply. I managed to sort the mast problem but then hit another hitch (no pun intended) so decided to settle for club sailing on Sunday. Very disappointed to miss Rutland. See you all at Netley.
