Erling's Sail
As told by Erling, he capsized very close ahead of a following boat. It was so close that although its helm took avoiding action the following boat couldn't be steered quickly enough to leeward, with the result that one (or both?) of its rudders sliced through Erling's sail in the water. Apparently no damage to mast, so Erling's boat was presumably on its way through 90 degree to 180 degree full inversion.

PS They seem quite keen on accidental sail damage at Shanklin - what with 1347's sail being crucified (picture somewhere in
http://www.shanklinsailingclub.com/pict ... erland.php). I hope Shanklin's claims experience doesn't put my insurance premiums up.........
