Righting line

Managed to use the righting line which is fitted to the front beams yesterday. It worked well but I broke the bungee cord in the process.

Does anybody know how to wire it all back up again?

Tried once some years back but then ripped it all out and since use a knotted rope attached to the mast ball and kept in the tramp bag. The bungee cords deteriorate and leave the knob hanging down and banging on the hull..

I worked it out. If you see me with 3 metres of shock cord dangling from Dreadnought then I got it wrong.

That looks right but I don't want to see you sailing round the course with anything dangling.

Hope it's not of Liam's dangly bit.

Not heavy enough. Add more weight.

Yep,
That looks right but why bother? The problems include:
1) it is hard (impossible) to reach if the boat is on it's side. :(
2) it is too short to right the boat if the boat is inverted. This is because you need to stand right at the back by the rudder to get the boat to turn onto it's side and the righting rope is just not long enough to reach. :?
3) the lack of pullies and high friction means it does not stow away properly after use. This leads to the problem know as " Liam's dangly bits"

It is much better to use the free end of the main halyard :D or if preferred to use a separate knotty bit of rope as described by Steve Willis. :P
Cheers
Bob

I'll try to keep it all tucked in.

Or fit fishing hooks to the knobbly thing on the end of the dangly bits so you can make use of them while they drag in the water...........
