Back to Dart.

Post by Derik Palmer »

So the Sprint 15 will soon be no more and the class name will revert to being the Dart 15. I suppose it makes sense seeing that Windsport now own the rights to the Dart 18. But what will be the class insignia? As a new class member this year I've arrived late at the party, so can someone tell me: are we going to go back to the same insignia as the 18,or keep the current Sprint one? It'll be a bit of a bummer if we have to go back to the old Dart one; I think the current one is much better looking and more recognisable too. And its not long since I bought a nice crisp sail for my boat with the Sprint insignia on it; it would be a great shame to mess it up changing it all back...

You don't need to change anything on your sail. You can sail with a Spark logo on your sail if you want.

Yes, I understand that. But what will be the official class insignia? Are we reverting to to the old Dart 15 one?

I much prefer the original Dart 15 logo. It’s a profile of a hull. The interim logo meant nothing to me.

Hi Derik

I partially agree with your view on the logo. The Dart insignia still makes sense as it's a representation of the boat and links with the 18. The lettering does feel rather dated though.

We might call our class Dart 15. But our association website is still headed Sprint Association.

Will Windsport be the agent for the Dart 16 as well?
