Eurocat 2014

This is the premier Cat sailing event across Europe which we can take part in under class C3. 

Eurocat is held in Carnac from 1 May to 4 May

We have managed to obtain some support from Key Camp for accommodation and either the ferry or tunnel; this includes a car, 4 passengers, boat and trailer, or you can make your own way and stay in a local hotel.

The accommodation through Key Camp is at Les Menhirs Camping which is on the beach and is a 5 to 10 Min walk from both Yacht Club Carnac and the town centre.

Accommodation and Ferry or Tunnel

The following 4 options include ferry or tunnel, car with four passengers, boat and trailer, based on staying in a 2 Bedroom Esprit for 5 nights from 30 April to 5 May;  3 bedroom Esprit is £10 extra.

Esprit, 2 bed, 1 bath, sleeps 7 (1 double room, 1 triple room and 2 person sofa bed in lounge)

  1. Eurotunnel

Departing 30 April around 0600 and returning 5 May around 2100                              £325.25

  1. Dover - Calais Ferry

Departing 30 April around 0600 and returning 5 May around 2100                              £287.75

  1. Portsmouth - Caen –

Departing 30 Aril 0800 and returning 5 May 1700                                                         £542.25

  1. Portsmouth - Caen  Night Boat

Departing 29 April at 2300 and returning 5 May 1700

including a 4 Berth Inside Cabin                                                                                                 £601.25

Esprit, 3 bed, 1 bath, sleeps 8 (1 double room, 2 twin rooms and 2 person sofa bed in lounge) + £10

Accommodation Only

The following 2 Esprit options are available as accommodation only

  • Esprit, 2 bed, 1 bath, sleeps 7  for 5 nights                                                                             £148.25                                            
    • ( One double room, one triple room and 2 person sofa bed in lounge)
  • Esprit 3 bed, 1 bath, sleeps 8 for 5 nights                                                                               £158.25
    • (One double room, two twin rooms and 2 person sofa bed in lounge)

 

General

Extra night’s accommodation for the above options can be added for approximately £34 per night.

Ferry

  1. Portsmouth – Caen, Brittany Ferries has a maximum height for the car, boat and trailer of 1.8M this includes the mast protruding above the tow vehicle, you can travel above this height up to 2.6M for an extra cost of £64.00. Eurotunnel and Dover Calais ferry has no height restrictions.  
  2. Additional ferry car passengers can be added for a small supplement

 

Travel Time:

As an example below is the average travel time form port of entry to Carnac:

Eurotunnel to Carnac distance 420 miles average travel time 6.5 hours

Calais to Carnac distance 420 miles average travel time 6.5 hours

Caen to Carnac distance 300 miles average travel time 3.5 hours

We have at present on hold four Esprit’s and having spoken directly to both Key Camp and Les Menhirs Camping they have advised that due to the popularity of Eurocat and the Camps sites vicinity to the Yatch Club the Esprits and camping pitches get booked up quite quickly.

Unfortunately at this time we have been unsuccessful in obtaining any deals with the ferry companies directly but if this changes we will post the options.

Ferry or Tunnel and accommodation can be secured for a deposit of £99 booked though Lancing Travel, bookings direct with Key Camp do not attract the same package price.
