Carsington Winter TT Saturday 4th December

Post by ray.gall »

The second round of the Winter TT Series takes place at Carsington Sailing Club 4th December.
The club will be open from 08.30 and the Galley will be ready to serve breakfast from 09:00.
The entry fee is as per previous years at £12 with Christmas pudding / brandy sauce included in the price to enjoy and take in the seasonal spirit in the warmth & comfort of our festively decorated clubhouse.
Special note for GEORGE WOOD, briefing at 10:15, first race commencing at 11:00 with the second back to back.
Ged Bellamy is our Race Officer who will determine courses to be sailed on the day maximising breeze, direction, conditions, as we will have pretty much the whole of the lake to ourselves.
Just in case anyone in the nation is not aware the Inter Club Challenge (Carsington v Draycote) resumes with Team Carsington one up in the five event series, Ho Ho Ho!

So look forward to welcoming all our Sprints 15 friends.
YaHoo!

As part of the normal Carsington service, event photographer Pauline (Love) 8) will be out on the water. If you would like to take away a picture memento of the occasion, just bring along a USB stick or blank CD, place your order and it will be done

Hi Ray sadly I will have to miss the event this year, as her indoors has ordered a new carpet for the hall to be fitted in 10 days when I have about 12 days work of decoration to do.
PS hope she hasn't found a way to stop me sailing?

Carsington Winter TT Saturday 4th December

With regret I need to inform that the Carsington Winter TT December 4th has been cancelled due to severe inclement conditions and a deteriorating weather forecast predicted for our area of Derbyshire over the next ten days.
A reconnoitre today of the roads leading to Carsington; access / egress of the club site, highlighted slippery conditions due to snow and ice. Whilst with care, access to Carsington SC is still open; I would not want to be towing a trailer in the area given the impending worsening conditions.
George Love and I were standing in the boat park at mid-day today deliberating in the sunshine; the conditions at that time recorded a temperature of minus 6!
Weather information services contacted regarding weather predictions for the Carsington area over the coming week forecast; sub zero temperatures to continue other than a respite on Tuesday, deteriorating to snowfall due Thursday/Friday and potential minus 15 (yes -15) plus wind chill on Saturday 4th December.
The edges of the lake are frozen today and by next weekend the lake is expected to be totally frozen over.
It is hoped that an alternative date in the New Year can be found to re-run the Carsington Winter TT, I have already started negotiations with CSC officials and the Sprint 15 Association towards this end, will let you know the outcome a.s.a.p.

Looks like our wonderful Derbyshire weather may have saved the day, Erling. Hope you can make the rescheduled date.

Sorry you've had to make this decision, Ray, but I'm absolutely certain that it is the wise and responsible way to go. I hope you can rearrange in the new year and look forward to hearing any news of this. Pity because I packed my kit today to let Rosemary know that I was definitely serious about coming despite the weather forecast. Haven't mended the trailer lights yet though - too cold outside! At least Erling won't miss out now, unless another carpet is ordered  .
