The Inland Championships at Grafham 26/27 October

Post by Bob Carter »

The observant will notice that we have now posted the Notice of Race for the Inland Championships which is also the last traveller of the Summer Series at Grafham on 26th and 27th October.

http://www.sprint15.com/events/EMS/event.php?id=108

The even more observant will notice that the entrance fee includes a 2 course evening meal for the competitor which will be served in the top bar at 6.30pm on Saturday. This is a new departure for Grafham and is done to encourage people to socialize in the Club after sailing on the Saturday evening. Last year we asked the fleet representatives for ideas to improve the event and this was suggested by several as a way to improve the Saturday evening and is similar to hat is done at a number of other clubs. Coincidentally Grafham have recently engaged new caters (the ladies who used to do the meals at the Wheatsheaf Pub have taken over) and they are getting rave reviews. Competitors must select their choice of meal at registration before they go on the water on Saturday. There is a choice of 3 meals which we will post on the website soon. Extra meals can be bought for £9 for guests and they must be ordered before noon on Saturday.
There will not be the facility to enter without the meal or to get a refund from the club. We hope that most people will stay - but for those that cannot stay we hope they can sell their meal ticket to those who want an extra ticket.
The sailing will be as good as ever and we expect that Saturday evening will be improved by this change.
Cheers

Hi Bob,

With reference to your posting on the boat register index, I will have a push for TBYC Sprints to attend Grafham. By chance, there is no club racing on 26/27 October. It's also three weeks away, so time is on our side.

The new format for Saturday evening is sure to keep the class together. Bon appetite!

Would it be possible to leave our boats at Stewartby for the week?

Will Paul Grattage win the Summer Traveller series or will Stuart Snell grab the series at the last event? Thomas Sandal cannot be ruled out, either.

In any case the comments of the grubguru are very apt.

Unfortunately I can not make the event as Im working but I will be at Stewarby on Sunday 27th. Will wait around until 5.30 for anyone wanting to drop a boat off or possibly speak to Rob and Jon Finch.

Just wanted to say , congratulations to the Sprint 15 class for your turnout at the Grafham cat open. 33 boats , knocked every other cat class into a cocked hat and from what I heard the racing was sharp and exciting.
Keep introducing your none friends to Sprint 15 sailing and the class can only continue to grow.
All the best to all the Sp15 sailors

Brian

There were actually 41 entries I understand, but the conditions prevented some getting from the shore to the start or indeed from the start to the finish of race 1 which may explain the confused results.

Either way it was a cracker that has my body still aching today!

I know there was some admiration from onlookers that the Sprint 15 is so well represented and able to withstand (in most cases anyhow) the conditions better than the helms.

Not only was Paul sailing like a Demon, he was also secretly filming us all.

I have got the editing scissors out and put this on the 'tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zY-cub5_RU
