Hoisting the Mainsail

Post by Bob Carter »

I was recently asked by a new member about trouble hoisting the mainsail, so I penned a new 'tip' which Liam has kindly added to the tips page of our website.
Here it is.

I hope it is of use.
Cheers

Agree with Bob's wise words and the technique if on your own as taught to me by Nick D:

Obviously head to wind..
Stand on the tramp/front beam's port side
Pull the sail up with the main halyard and keep an eye out that the bolt rope doesn't come out of the track
As you pull up on the halyard push up on the batten pockets SIMULTANEOUSLY - this is the real trick and makes life much much simpler..
