Talking to web maestro Liam after the last race of the Nationals and reflecting on our joint experience of top level sailing competitions we reflected on the possible benefits of setting a minimum and maximum wind range for Sprint 15 events. I suggested a 20 knot minimum as that is what I need to do ok particularly upwind and he proposed a 39 knot maximum as that is what Shanklin are happy to race in out to sea.
However before proposing this does anyone have any comments????
Also well done to Netley and the weather gods for giving us a damn good event and Rosie for stepping up into the Windsport shoes. Roll on Pwhelli next year and ??? The year after

For cat sailors life has two certainties d@@@h and racing a Sprint 15
Joking apart, I think minimum and maximum windspeed stipulations are best avoided. The decision whether or not to start a race is best left to the PRO on the day with input from an appropriate competitor if need be.
If not this in my opinion is going to be the quickest way to kill off the TTs, how many TTs have we had when the wind has been below the suggested minimum 20Knt, everyone will be looking at Wind Guru and saying 15Knt, no point travelling.
I'm with Howard, lets leave it to the Pros and the rescue crews to make the final call, they are the one's that know the capabilities of the clubs rescue crews and rescue boats that they can provide.
As a heavyweight, people might find this opinion strange, Why try and fix something that ain't broke
