Strangely looking at the member list in posting number order we actually do seem to have a fairly normal 'naval' heirachy:

http://www.sprint15.com/forum/memberlis ... memberlist

ignoring the Archive user of course. So we have 1 admiral of the fleet, 1 Vice Admiral and 1 Rear Admiral and so forth.

Well Martin, it's nice to be a Commorode, I think these pages are probably my best hope of reaching those dizzying heights !!

More amusingly (I think), have you heard the phrase "the Vice of a Vice Admiral is the Rear of a Rear admiral." ? Keep your wits about you when those boys are about

I think the idea of awarding ranks was good-at-the-time. It helped to get the new website off to a good start. But I think it is time to re-examine and modify the basis of promotion. I would suggest the following.

Instead of promoting on the basis of number of posts, we should perhaps consider a member's real worth to the class. Such as the number of championships attended, number of open meetings attended, whether on the association committee etc. It would, of course, adversely affect me. I would be cashiered to the lowest rank! No doubt, that would please Robert. :D

The ranking system as used by the software is by posting number. I could always increase the number of posts required to attain ranks. Anything else would be just too complex to maintain and timeconsuming so the short answer is Nope! :)

Hi Martin,

That's OK.

Very soon, the Sprints will have more admirals than the Royal Navy, who currently have more admirals than ships!

Hi Robert
I see that you have a handsome self portrait of your good self above your rank, these days. Did you do it or did Martin select the picture for likeness? :D
I guess it must be one of the new features that has been incorporated when I was not paying attention.
Cheers
Bob
PS Frank has always wanted a pie AND chips as the grubguru. If he is on the ball he could search out a picture of some chips and add it............

It's a state of mind thing. Martin did convert a recent picture of me down to size but I decided I looked too old so I picked out a likeness of my inner self. I used Microsoft Office Picture Manager to resize and compress it. Not sure if Frank's digits would be delicate enough for the task...
