Seasalter Open

Post by simon »

Hi All

Thinking of doing the Seasalter Open and have a few questions,

Would the club be open for arrivals on the Friday evening, Id be travelling from Oxford after work.
I believe there is somewhere for campers/campervans
Would there be anyone prepared in giving me advice on boat setup and possible sailing technique, (only sailed the boat for 7 hours and never sailed a cat before that)

Thanks in advance

Hi Simon
Lots of us travel on the Friday evening and the club is open all evening and the members will help get your boat together and you can camp on site. We always will give advice even to members that don't need it. Look forward to meeting you.

Hi Simon,

As Erling says SSC will be open for our normal Friday evening social from about 5pm, if you want to come earlier ring me (number in the Notice of Race.

Campervans no problem as you can park for free in our boat field directly opposite the club.

A number of us help out with instruction at the training weekends and will be pleased to help you check over and set up your boat. Its a good opportunity to have a fun weekend as the fleet is always happy to both help and laugh at each other, with enthusiasm. We have a number of recent converts in the club so don't worry that you will feel out of your depth - its a great opportunity to see how much you can get out of the Sprint 15.

That said - keep an eye on this forum as I will let people know a few days beforehand if the conditions are likely to overstretch less experienced helms. We normally have flat water but if it goes to higher NE winds it can get lumpy.

Looking forward to seeing you

Best wishes

Steve
