Marconi TT

Post by Erling »

I see the Marconi TT event is very travel friendly, and its worth the trip just for the round the islands race on the Sunday.

A little less than 2 weeks to go and we're looking forward to hosting another TT at Marconi. We'll do our best to lay on the perfect wind this year :)

Registration opens on the Saturday at 10am, briefing at 11am and race 1 scheduled to start at 12 noon, with races 2 and 3 to follow. There's a 2 course meal, bar and free camping on Saturday night. Race 4 (round the islands) is on Sunday, followed by prize giving and, with a bit of luck, home in time for tea. Full details over on the events page.

If anyone would like to know more about the round-the-islands race planned for Sunday, this link should open a view of the course in Google maps

See you there.

4 days until the Marconi TT and the forecast looks promising. According to Windguru strong winds later this week will fall back to SW 4-5 on Saturday and SW 3-4 on Sunday:

If that forecast holds true then Saturday should be a good blast with relatively flat water thanks to the ebbing tide and cross-offshore SW wind moving together. A repeat of the drifter we endured at the last Marconi TT looks unlikely. Fingers crossed.

One day to go and it looks like we're in for some excellent sailing. Forecast is for dry, sunny and warm weather with plenty of wind. Probably a good idea to eat 3 shredded wheat for breakfast on Saturday.

Hope you can make it.

An excellent weekend's racing. Thanks to everyone who made the event happen (I just turned up on the day to race, and did a few results) and to all the competitors who travelled to join the local Marconi SC boats.

A write-up and results will be provided shortly. Congratulations to Kevin Kirby on a well earned victory.

In the meantime, there's 230 photos from the Saturday racing on the Marconi SC facebook page. Go to http://en-gb.facebook.com/marconisailingclub/photos and click the link from there.

Great photos Dave - good to see 1923 back in action again, looks like a great weekend (and as blustery as we had at SSC).

Excellent weekends sailing - big thanks to Marconi for the slick organisation of the racing and the reassuring presence of the rescue crews. Well done Fenella and the team.
