The September 10th TT at Draycote Water will also be for the Sprint 15 Northern Championship.

The north is slipping further south each year.

Talking of things Northern would anyone be interested in reinstating a Welsh Open for 2017. Abersoch Dinghy Week are considering having a multihull class start and if we could muster up enough Sprint 15s I'm happy to fund a trophy.

Abersoch 2016 was an interesting experience, I almost got booted out on day one. First a phone call at work to say that as a Sprint 15 is a cat I couldn't enter dinghy week, they backtracked when I mentioned it was my third time back, then grudgingly agreed to accept my entry. When I turned up to register I mentioned to the race officer that their NOR states "all classes of dinghy from Optimists to 49rs", his reply was "a catamaran is not a sailing dinghy so does not qualify for Abersoch Dinghy Week".
As my class (single handed mixed) included a pair of foiling moths I asked how they could be classified as sailing dinghies.

Not the best start for my weeks holiday, but the forecast was breezy so I stuck with it. I'm glad I did as the racing was excellent and I managed 3rd overall out of 22. I think Abersoch (South Caernarfon Sailing Club), were a little surprised how I got on (I didnt dominate, hit anyone etc) and came round to the idea of a multihull fleet for next year.

I'd like to see a fleet of 15s there (minimum of ten required for a class start), rather than mixed in with a bunch of F18s.

I know our class has some 'history' with Abersoch but its a beautiful location with some fantastic sailing water. I'm happy to discuss at the Nationals next week.

Liam,

Is this a one day (Saturday) event? If so what sort of time might the last race finish. I have an evening commitment but have realised I can be free for the earlier part of the day.

Thanks

Just the one day with the first of four races starting at 10.30. Each race will be approximately an hour.

Notice of Race is here: http://www.sprint15.com/events/EMS/event.php?id=146

Thanks, I have read that. Having not been to one of these before I'm not clear how things happen. Does one race follow pretty much immediately after the last finisher or are there gaps?

Sorry to be asking such basic questions.

I think there will be a comfort break in there somewhere.
