Hi everyone,

We are looking forward to seeing you at our one day summer TT and Northern Championship next Saturday.

If you want to drop your boat off on the Friday night, please contact myself or Dave Rowe, the club manager, so we can arrange to let you have access.

For those wishing to camp, if you have a camper van you can stay in our car park and for those who want to stay in a tent there is very limited space ( 2 or 3 tents) near to the club house which can be used. Again contact myself or Dave so we can give you access.

We are aiming to run 4 races on the day, with the first race starting at 10.30am followed by race 2. We will then break for lunch after 12.30pm. Back on the water for 1.30pm/2.00pm for two further races. This may have to flex, dependent on weather conditions etc but the intention is to be off the water by 4.00pm, so that people can plan to get away.

Please contact me if you have any queries.

Hi Ed,

I'm hoping to come (also hoping for my first sail on #2008 on Monday afternoon). I have sent a joining email to membership at sprint15.com but not yet heard back (I am assuming holiday and am not chasing). Do I need official membership to have come through to join the racing?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

No, should be fine. I am sure that your e-mail will be picked up soon.

Welcome to the Sprint 15 Association and hopefully see you on Saturday.

Good luck with your first sail.

Ed

Paul and I will be attending.

Erling is either basking in the glory of two wins and a second at Shanklin on Sean's lightweight boat or too embarrassed to show his face after the Nationals.

Hopefully three of us will be there from Marconi. It will make a nice change to outnumber Shanklin for once.......

Hi,

I may have come (joint) last but I still had a great time in my first races for about 40 years. Thanks for the welcomes and all the help.
We will be back, although sometimes it will be Jane sailing instead of me.
We won't be able to join many Sunday races as I'm normally working then. So hoping for lots more 1 day events :-)

Well done for turning up so soon after buying your boat.

These boats don't take a lot of tuning up but you might want to take a look at http://www.shanklinsailingclub.com/cont ... ements.php

It has all the measurements of mast rake at Shanklin taken a few years ago. Ignore Paul Grattage's measurements. He was rubbish then.

The other thing to check is whether the rudders are straight/parallel when they are down.

I'm going to check all these things, at the moment I think the helm is the biggest issue ;-)

I had some basic problems uncleating the mainsheet, even when I did it didn't run out well. So I have adjusted the angle of the cleat and turned the ratchet off. Steve did comment that the rope diameter seemed larger than normal.

The traveller also wasn't releasing very well. I've put silcone spray on it and have ordered new traveller wheels.

I've also finished fitting the windex and done so in a better way that yesterday (using a spare bike dynamo bracket to the metal loop below the bridle).

Another task is to tighten the trampoline - I thought it was quite tight be Steve was almost shocked at how untight it was ;-)

Thanks for the help.

Dave

Thanks to all at Draycote for a great event. It was a superb day out, topped off with my best result ever at a TT. These new boats are quick.
It was also great to see a few new sailors to the Class and put faces to names. Loved the one day format. Had a couple of wee drams on returning home last night and had a wee lie-in this morning - perfect weekend!
